Seniors’ Digital Literacy & Wellness

Funded by the Toronto Foundation, RIWC’s new Seniors’ Digital Literacy & Wellness programs promote community engagement and digital inclusion to improve the health and wellbeing of senior women.  Our program includes a NEW Technology Mentorship and virtual Group Support Program directed at older adult women living in the Greater Toronto Area.

Through our Mentorship Program, senior women in the community will be matched with one of our mentors for 3 to 4 weeks (or as long as needed) to complete individual technology assessments, arrange for access to technology, guide them in the set-up and use of the technology, and cover key topics that will help them navigate and access information about healthcare, government benefits and virtual supports in the community. Clients who are eligible for the program include senior women living in the City of Toronto who need technical skills training to access information and resources in the community.

This fall/winter, RIWC will also begin hosting a series of webinars for our clients and welcome guests.  Our webinars will cover a range of basic technology skills, use of social media and popular communication platforms and assist seniors in accessing community and healthcare resources online.  The following are a list of upcoming webinar dates:

  • Learning About Computer Basics (September 7, 2022)
  • Learning About Gmail (September 14th, 2022)
  • Learning About Google Drive (September 21, 2022)
  • Learning About Online Fraud (September, 28 2022)
