FSHT Program

RIWC’s 10-week Food Service and Hospitality Training (FSHT) program combines formal classroom-based employment skills training with more innovative experiential learning strategies to empower women with the skills they need to succeed in the food service and hospitality sector. The program’s holistic and integrated curriculum provides participants with career and skills training, and hands-on work experience in the following sub-sectors of the food service industry: (1) Food and Beverage Service; (2) Catering and Social Entrepreneurship; (3) Events Management; and (4) Office and Administration.

Clients who are eligible for the program include unemployed women who are currently receiving social assistance from the Ontario Works program who are interested in developing a career in the food service and hospitality sector.

The FSHT program features the following core learning elements:

  • One-to-One Skills and Career Assessments
  • Individual Career Plan Development
  • Sector Focused Career and Skills Training
  • Experiential Work Based Learning
  • Career Related Work Experience
  • Customized Foundation and Personal Support
  • Post-Program Plan Development

After completing the program, participants receive six months of post-program support for seeking employment, further skill development, training and education and relevant placement opportunities that will lead to employment.
